USA FlagWELCOME TO GUESTS FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN.

NEW! ring us on our toll-free number: 1-888-331-3476

Increasing numbers of guests are joining us from the States and other English speaking parts of the world, and we are delighted at the added interest and diversity this brings to our parties of travellers. There are now almost always a few overseas guests on each of Andante's tours - and of course having chosen such a specialised holiday means you will immediately have a great deal in common with your travelling companions.

Our tours are generally considered very good value by U.S. guests who already travel with us (and we specifically ask this question on our questionnaires) and they suggest to us that they compare favourably with what is on offer in the States.

Three of Andante's tours have been listed by the National Geographic Traveler as being one of their 50 top "tours of a lifetime"; in 2008 they chose our Albania tour and in 2009 our Syria trip and more recently in 2010 they chose Travels in Archaeology's Pompeii and the Bay of Naples as one of their selection.

We are fully financially bonded through the Civil Aviation Authority and AITO, which in these tricky times gives all our customers complete peace of mind, and of course our academic credentials are superb - the company is even owned and managed by Ph.D. archaeologists, and our team of guides is unsurpassed.

Here are some recent comments from a few U.S. guests:

"This US customer is very satisfied and happy that she discovered Andante."

"I was traveling alone in southern Italy last fall and I really wanted to connect with some group tour for part of my stay, so I googled "tours in southern Italy" and that's how I came up with your name. I had such a marvelous experience that I have been telling all my friends and my travel agent about you. In fact, my husband and I are coming on your upcoming tour of Crete along with two more friends that I have recruited with my glowing reports."

"I have found nothing in the States that comes close to the quality tours you offer."

"Most American companies put huge surcharges on single travelers. The British approach is less penalty-like and welcoming and I think Andante in particular is a wonderful company for single travelers."

"We loved our Andante cave tour with Gudrun Schmid and Paul Bahn. It had everything -- fascinating experiences, interesting companions, lots of exercise, wonderful accomodations, and of course, Gudrun, who managed everything with humor and expertise."

"I have taken one Andante tour and I really enjoyed it (I am signed up for 2 this year.I found your web site easy to navigate and the tour was just what I was looking for. I had already made use of 2 US tour companies that specialize in historical places (8 trips total) so the hard part was signing up for one in different country. Your web site had all the information I need for reassurance as to your being reputable."

"We felt very lucky to find out about Andante. We were in the UK and looked through the newspapers and magazines in our hotel. I clipped out the page and saved it for years before I actually looked you up..."

"I just returned last night from the Pompeii trip, and wanted to tell you what a wonderful time I had. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the tour. Medina and Oliver were wonderful. The arrangements were perfect, and Oliver’s lectures were informative and fun. I’m so glad I found Andante Travels."

Do feel free to email and see what we have to offer you. Our team is used to answering queries of every kind and is very knowledgeable. They will give you direct answers.

If you would like to ring, you could do so on our new toll-free number: 1-888-331-3476.

An Arcadian enigma One of the last pieces I acquired before retiring from the Manchester Museum in 2006 was a small bronze figure of the Greek god Hermes, the ancient messenger-god. He is only 9.5 cm tall, and stands with both arms outstretched from the elbows, holding a small goat on his left…
